Hockey India League: Top ten expensive players in images
The auction for the inaugural edition of the Hockey India League (HIL) was conducted in the national capital city New Delhi on Sunday. Notwithstanding India's fourth place finish in the recently concluded Champions Trophy tournament in Melbourne, Australia, the Indian players were the most sought after by the five Indian frachisees.
Just as he has led his country from the front, Indian captain Sardar Singh also led the charts for the most expensive players in the HIL auction. He was acquired by Delhi Wave Riders for a phenomenal amount of Rs. 42.90 lakhs ($78,000). Germany's Moritz Fuerste was the costliest overseas player bought in the auction. He was lapped up Ranchi Rhinos for a massive amount of Rs. 41.525 lakh (US$ 75,500).
